BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia Thursday expressed profound sympathy to the family members of the party's missing organising secretary M Ilias Ali, reports UNB.
A delegation of BNP, led by party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, met Ilias' wife, Tahsina Rushdir Luna, at her Banani residence and conveyed the party chairperson's sympathy as the BNP leader could not be rescued or traced even after two years of his reported forced disappearance.
On April 17, 2012, former BNP MP Ilias was picked up allegedly by some plainclothes men along with his car driver Ansar Ali from the capital's Banani area, but it is still not clear whether he is dead or alive. There has been no visible progress in the investigation by the law enforcers to unearth the mystery over the BNP leader's disappearance.
BNP has been claiming since his disappearance that the law enforcers at the behest of the government picked up Mr Ilias, an allegation vehemently rejected by the government.
The BNP delegation went to Ilias' residence, 'Sylhet House', at around 2.00 pm and stayed there over 40 minutes.
They talked to Luna and her sons and daughters and enquired about their present condition.
Luna expressed her anger as the law enforcers could not make any progress though two years have already elapsed since her husband was apprehended and made disappeared.
