Noakhali BNP leader killed over drug protest

A BNP leader has been stabbed to death in Noakhali's Kabirhat Upazila after he protested against drug use, according to police and his family.
Kabirhat Police Station chief Romel Barua said the attack took place around 11:00 pm on Wednesday in front of a Palli Bidyut substation near Tetultala Bazar in Sundalpur Union. Police have detained two suspects over the incident, reports bdnews24.com.
The deceased was identified as Md Faruk, also known as Shahid, 50, hailing from Madhya Sundalpur village.
Faruk was a former publicity secretary of Ward No. 6 BNP in Sundalpur union and a businessman at Tetultala Bazar. Police have sent the body to the Noakhali General Hospital morgue for a postmortem.
