The deadline for submission of nomination papers to contest elections in 102 upazila parishads, slated for February 19, expired Saturday, reports UNB.
The nomination papers will be scrutinised Monday as the last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 3.
As part of the staggered fourth upazila elections, the Election Commission announced the first phase of polls schedule for the 102 upazilas on January 19.
Besides, the commission Thursday declared schedule for the second phase of election in more 117 upazilas.
The commission will hold polls in some 480 upazilas out of the country's 487 in six phases by June this year.
