None but BNP raises allegations over voting: Quader

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Tuesday none but BNP made allegation over the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) election, reports BSS.

"There is no allegation of violence in the Gazipur City Corporation polls. But, panic was created among people in the polls. In reality, nothing was occurred," he told a press conference at the party president's Dhanmondi political office here.

He said the city election was held in a peaceful manner as the voters exercised their franchise from 8 am to 4 pm.

Voting of only nine centres out of 425 has been postponed, Quader added.

The AL General Secretary said they extended cooperation to the Election Commission (EC) in holding the polls in a free, fair and neutral manner.

"We'll accept the election results whether it is in our favour or not," he said.

He said BNP made various allegations in different times, but they could not prove anything.

AL Advisory Council Members Md Rashidul Alam and Mukul Bose, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, AL Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organising Secretaries Ahmed Hossain, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Publicity Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Engineer Abdus Sabur, Cultural Affairs Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, Relief and Social Welfare Affairs Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua were, among others, present.
