Renowned business personality Rashed Maksud Khan passed away on Saturday. He was 84.
Mr Khan breathed his last at 7:20pm while undergoing treatment in Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka. He had been suffering from different old-age complications.
He left behind a son and a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
His namaz-e-janaza was held after Zuhr prayers at Gulshan Society Mosque in the capital on Sunday. He was buried at the Banani graveyard.
Mr Khan served as president of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in 1995 and 1998.
He was the founder president of Bangladesh-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was president of Bangladesh-Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A renowned industrialist, Mr Khan was the founder of Bengal Fine Ceramics Limited.
He was also the Chairman of Everest Fine Porcelain Limited and Director of Bangladesh German Fine Footwear Limited, engaged in different area of businesses like manufacturer and exporter of ceramic, ready-made garments and footwear etc.
He was also a member of Chemical Engineering Department Alumni Association of Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET).
He was honoured by BUET Chemical Engineering Department, marking 75 years of BUET. The DCCI expressed deep shock at the demise of Rashed Maksud Khan.
In a statement, DCCI President Ashraf Ahmed and members of the board of directors expressed deep shock at the death of Rashed Maksud Khan.
