State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Md Nurul Haque Nur has warned against attempts by 'vested interests' to monopolise the narrative of the July Movement, reports UNB.

Speaking during the discussion on the thanksgiving motion on the President's speech in parliament, Nur called for an end to the ongoing propaganda surrounding the movement.

"Certain groups are attempting to hijack the narrative of the July Movement, similar to what happened with the history of our Liberation War," he said.

Addressing the younger generation’s perception of the struggle, he said many young people may not fully realise the scale of sacrifices and contributions that underpin the movement. They might think of it as a 90-minute football match where someone scores a goal in the last five minutes by chance and then considers themselves the best player."

Referring to the ‘July National Charter’ and the opposition's recent rhetoric, Nur, a member of parliament from the BNP-led alliance, clarified the document's framework for resolving political disagreements.
