Oman Tribune hails CG for separating judiciary from govt control

The Oman Tribune, a leading English daily in Muscat, has appreciated Bangladesh's laudable move in separating the judiciary from the control of the government.
An editorial on 'Laudable Move' published in the daily Saturday, said the caretaker administration headed by Fakhruddin Ahmed, has freed the judiciary from the control of the executive, reports UNB.
Appreciating the role of Fakhruddin, it said that there was much more he had to do and he was yet halfway through the cleaning up process.
The editorial mentioned the arrest of bigwigs, including Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina, during the present caretaker government and also the current revision of the voters list.
Once this stupendous task is complete, the next step must be holding elections, it said, adding that "without any wavering even a wee bit, the government must keep its promise to hold them next year."
"Any delay will erode international confidence in the country and perhaps lead to curbs. At this juncture, Bangladesh cannot afford to sully its improving image", the editorial said.
