SYLHET, June 15: A court in Sylhet Sunday sent the photojournalist, who was arrested in the blogger Ananta Bijoy Das killing case, back to the jail after a 7-day remand.

The investigators were now checking the information, given by Idris Ali.

Assistant Commissioner, Prosecution, Abdul Ahad Chowdhury of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) told this correspondent, after quizzing in Dhaka, Ali was produced before the judicial magistrate of court-2 Farhana Yasmin, who sent him back to the jail.

The lawmen had picked the photographer of Daily Sangbad and the Daily Sobuj Sylhet Idris Ali (24) up from his house at Fotehgar on June 7 and produced him before the court in the afternoon.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of SMP Mohammad Rahamat Ullah said in line with the police headquarters' instruction, a team of CID from the capital received the case document and took Idris to Dhaka for interrogation by the TFI cell that day.

Ananta was chopped to death in broad daylight on May 12 at the city's Subidbazar area, when he was on way to his office Pubali Bank, Jawabazar branch in Sunamganj. His elder brother Ratneswar Das filed the case accusing 4 unidentified killers.

As there had been no progress, earlier on May 25 police headquarters ordered for shifting the case to the CID, the official added.

Meanwhile, the left parties staged agitation rally on the court point area on June 13 demanding probe and immediate arrest of the killers. They would soon announce fresh programme.
