Ottawa assures Dhaka of looking into Noor\\\'s repatriation

Canadian government has assured Bangladesh of looking into the repatriation of Noor Chowdhury, the convicted killer of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, with 'due seriousness', reports UNB.

Canada's Senior Associate Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Peter Boehm made the assurance when Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque raised the issue during his meeting with him in Ottawa Tuesday.

The Foreign Secretary had a series of meetings at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of the government of Canada.

Bangladesh has urged the Canadian government to increase exports from Bangladesh from various sectors, including shipbuilding, light engineering, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, electronics and IT.

The Foreign Secretary discussed all aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries during his official visit to Ottawa.
