Outlaw killed in Pabna gunfight

PABNA, May 29 (UNB): An outlaw party leader was killed in a gunfight between his cohorts and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members in Ishwardi Upazila Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Hamidul Islam alias Hamidul Hamel (35), second-in-command of regional Purbo Banglar Communist Party (ML-Lal Pataka) and son of late Dilbar Sheikh of Khodaipur Rakhalgachhi village in Sadar Upazila of the district.

Two RAB members were also injured in the gunfight that took place around 5:00 pm.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi thana Biman Kumar Dash said a team of RAB conducted a drive at Hathatpara village in Pakshi along with Hamidul.

As the RAB members reached the area, Hamidul's accomplices opened fire on the law enforcers prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gun battle.
