Outlaw to die for killing BNP leader

CHUADANGA, Sept 15 (UNB): A court here Monday convicted a regional leader of an outlawed party and sentenced him to death for killing BNP leader Nur Ali in 2005.
The convict is Yusuful Goni alias Khairul, of Sonadanga village of Khulna. He was regional leader of Janajuddha, one of the factions of Purbo Banglar Communist Party (BPCP).
According to prosecution, Shankerchandra union parishad (UP) chairman and BNP leader Nur Ali was killed in a brush fire by some Janajuddha cadres at Dingedaha village in Sadar Upazila on June 22,2005.
Victim's brother Abdur Razzaq filed a case.
Of the five accused of the case, Janajuddha chief Abdur Rashid Malitha alias Dada Tapan, Sumon and Azad were killed in crossfire. Another accused Abdul Majid was acquitted as his guilt was not proved.
After examining records and witnesses, additional sessions judge Motahar Hossain handed down the verdict in a crowded court.
