Padma bridge under PPP is a dream: BNP

December 12, 2011 00:00:00

BNP acting secretary-general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed his doubts regarding the prime minister's (PM) plan to execute the Padma bridge project under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement, reports bdnews24.com. "The PM's plan to complete the Padma Bridge project through PPP is a marvellous dream,. Wonderful!" he said on Sunday in a meeting organised by labour wing of the party Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal on 'Balaka' premises of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in the city on Sunday. Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain's removal from the ministry is the result of corruption in the Padma bridge project, Fakhrul said. The PM has removed the communications minister after the WB stated in a letter that the funding has been suspended due to corruptions in the communications ministry, he alleged. The PM is unable to accept the corruption allegation, that is why she has challenged the WB, the BNP spokesperson said. "It is meaningless to throw challenge at the WB after shuffles in the ministries," Fakhrul said.
