PBCP leader lynched in Tangail

TANGAIL, June 8 (bdnews24.com): Villagers lynched an alleged leader of the banned Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) on the bank of the river Dhaleshwari, a police official said Friday.
The incident occurred late Thursday in Shibpur village under Baghil union of Sadar Upazila, a sub-inspector of Tangail Sadar thana police told the news agency.
The victim was identified as Sona Mia (32), son of Lal Mia of Kashinagar village of Hugra union.
He is known to be the outlawed group's commander in the area.
There were several cases against Mia of killing people and assaulting policemen.
Sona Mia was sentenced to death in absentia by hanging by a court for murdering Salamat Ullah Majnu, chairman of Baghil Union Parishad, police said.
The police took the body to the police station at 8.00 pm.
