The army says it has nabbed Boroshova Chakma, a leader of the PCJSS (Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti) after an encounter with the rebels Monday, reports bdnews24.com.

It says five weapons and some ammunition have been seized after the gun battle in the remote Dighinala jungles in Khagracharhi district.

The army's zonal commander Lt Colonel Mohsin Reza said he led an operation against the PCJSS (MN Larma faction) after a tip-off that they had gathered in strength at Sadhuchandrapara and were planning to attack the PCJSS (Santu Larma faction).

Lt Colonel Reza told the news agency the army encircled the area on Sunday evening and challenged the rebels at daybreak.

The PCJSS rebels fought back and the encounter lasted for an hour. Later, they fled leaving behind the weapons and ammunition.

Boroshova Chakma was nabbed when he was trying to slip into the jungles.

Five weapons including one light machine gun and two self loading rifles were recovered from the spot of the encounter along with one grenade, nine magazines, 450 rounds of assorted ammunition, eight mobile phones and six army fatigues.
