Dhaka City Awami League (AL) general secretary and Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram) said Monday people of the country have rejected BNP-sponsored hartal (total shutdown) of Monday, reports BSS.
"BNP is not in the field of movement. The media has made BNP alive. People didn't respond to Khaleda Zia's call for hartal. Why people would respond to BNP's call? Khaleda Zia will become a bankrupt by repeatedly calling hartal and people wouldn't respond to her call," he said.
Maya said this while speaking as the chief guest at an anti-hartal rally in front of the Awami League (AL) central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city. Sammilito Awami Samarthak Jote organised the rally denouncing hartal with its chairman Abdul Huq Sabuj in the chair.
Drawing attention of BNP leadership, Advocate Quamrul Islam said, "Consequence of yours will be disastrous if you choose the path of violent politics. You are walking on the street of violence in your bid to push the country to the verge of collapse transforming the society into a haven of terrorists to serve your narrow personal gains."
Referring to the Sunday's incident of torching of buses that caused serious burn injuries to some people, he alleged that they (BNP) want to create a disastrous situation in the country through violence and vandalism.
Terming that the languages of remarks of Tarique, Mizra Fakhrul and Khaleda Zia as identical, the minister said, "They should be given farewell from politics for the interest of healthy politics and democratic atmosphere. Otherwise, a healthy democratic practice in the country would be a far cry."
