Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Mahbub-Ul-Alam Hanif, MP, said Tuesday people of the country have outright rejected the blockade programme of BNP, report agencies.
"Why the BNP chief called the programme as leaders and activists of her party too remain absent from the street as the blockade programme has no justification whatsoever," he posed a question.
Hanif came up with the observations while addressing a sit-in programme in front of AL central office at capital's Bangabandhu Avenue.
"BNP chief called the blockade for her own good and to execute her plot. But her programme proved futile as condition of the country is normal," he said.
The AL leader also expressed discontent over BNP's acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's all-night stay at the National Press Club, saying "the place is for journalists. How could a most wanted accused take shelter in a place like that? It is not expected by the nation."
"Jatiya Press Club is a place for journalists, not a place for overnight stay for any accused wanted in cases… journalists should hand him over to the legal custody," he said.
