BNP secretary general Khondoker Delwar Hossain Wednesday said the people wouldn't accept any government "design" to hold general election under the state of emergency, reports UNB.
Exchanging views with Jhenidah District BNP at his NAM apartment in the evening, he said BNP is a democratic party and believes in peaceful transfer of power through elections. But that election must be free and fair, held in a free and democratic environment.
"Whenever there had been free and fair elections in this country, BNP won those elections," he said.
Delwar said BNP never ever took part in a stage-managed election in the past and wouldn't do so in the future too.
Also, "BNP won't shake hands or compromise with any evil forces to take over power through zigzag path."
