People of the country would not accept if Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returns home from India 'empty handed' this time, said Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson's adviser Zainul Abdin Farroque on Friday.

Mr Farroque made the comment while addressing an event organised by Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Nagorik Parishad in front of the National Press Club in the city protesting against the proposal for setting up Indian railway connectivity using Bangladesh soil.

He said that people of Bangladesh did not want India as a friend as it (India) has deprived the country of its (Bangladesh) fair share of river waters and killed Bangladeshi people on the border.

He alleged that India was continuously supporting the undemocratic government in Bangladesh.

"People of the country will never accept Delhi's aggression. People will intensify movement against Indian aggression for realising their just dues," he mentioned.

Meanwhile, detained former president of Jubo Dal Saiful Alam Nirob was released on bail from prison on Friday.

He was received by BNP activists at Keraniganj jail gate in Dhaka.
