PGR to demonstrate full professionalism remaining loyal to leadership: President

President lajuddin Ahmed has expressed his firm belief that members of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) will demonstrate utmost professional skill in performing their duties by remaining loyal to leadership as in the past.
The President said this while addressing the 32nd founding anniversary of the PGR at its headquarters Darbar hall in the Dhaka Cantonment Thursday, reports UNB.
He reminded the PGR members that the duties entrusted to them by the country and its people are glorious.
Iajuddin paid homage to the PGR members who sacrificed their lives in trying to protect the life of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman on May 30, 1981.
He lauded all the members of the regiment for pursuing challenging activities to improve professional excellence in order to perform their duties.
The President also lauded the bravery, patience, sincerity, high professional skill and exemplary discipline shown by them in providing security to the VVIPs, including the head of state and government.
He expressed the hope that the PGR members would also uphold the standard of this traditional regiment in similar manner in future.
"The duties performed by you are both a matter of pride as well as risky. With the passage of time, the scope and risk of your work have increased compared to the past", the President told the PGR rank and file.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff Moeen U Ahmed, Military Secretary to the President Mohammad An-finul Karim, 46 Infantry Brigade Commander Mohammad Abdul Hakim Aziz and PGR Commandant All Murtoza Khan welcomed the President on his arrival at the PGR headquarters.
Chief of Naval Staff Sarwar Jahan Nizam, Chief of Air Staff SM Ziaur Rahman, DGMS Director General Mohammad Abdul Moyeed Siddiqui, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar Sadique Hasan Rurm', NSI Director General Mohammad Tajul Islam, DG of DGFI Major General Golam Mohammad, Defence Secretary Kamrul Hasan and high military officials were present.
