CHITTAGONG, May 28: A plaintiff of a murder case told the trial court in Chittagong on Thursday that he was forced by the then ruling party leaders to lodge complaints against the then BCL (Bangladesh Chhatra League) leader AJM Nasir Uddin and six others in 1993.
Newly-elected city mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, among others, attended the court of Chittagong District and Sessions Judge Md Nurul Huda.
In the deposition the plaintiff, Sufian Siddiqui, also then a BCL leader on the city committee, said the complaints written by Kotwali police on January 24, 1993 were not read out to him and he had not made any complaint against AJM Nasir Uddin for attack on him in the public meeting of the then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina.
January 24 is observed as a black day in Chittagong as Sheikh Hasina was attacked by police near Laldighi Moidan in the year 1988 during the Ershad regime where 24 party workers, mostly from the BCL, were killed by police at the foot of Court Building Hill.
