Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said an international conspiracy is ongoing to fuel the resurgence of the fascist regime in the country.
"The masters of Sheikh Hasina have started working in different ways to re-establish Hasina and her collaborators," he added.
Mr Rizvi said this to the media after distributing leaflets for building public awareness of dengue fever in the capital's Bailey Road area on Sunday.
"Our appeal to the interim government is that each of your work should be intended for social welfare."
"The government should ensure that no people fall in a dangerous situation. Otherwise, public support for you might not remain the same," he maintained.
Mr Rizvi said the dengue situation in the country, particularly in Dhaka city, was alarming, adding that dengue has so far claimed 250 lives.
He suggested that the government act promptly to contain the spread of dengue before it would become epidemic to take a heavy toll on people.
BNP's health affairs secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam, Swechchhasebak Dal vice-president Dr Jahidul Kabir and Jubo Dal leader Gias Uddin Mamun, among others, were present.
Meanwhile, BNP vice-chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu said there was no chance for the fascist Awami League to come back to the country's political landscape.
He said this at a rally hosted by Jatiyatabadi Gonotantra Parishad in front of the National Press Club.
The event was organised to press for punishing those liable for killing students and people during the anti-Hasina movement in July-August 2024, and rehabilitating the victims' families and treating the injured.
Mr Dudu said the Awami League was not only involved in the killing of students and people during the latest movement, but also did so over the past 15 years.
He called for an early election for the greater good of the country and economy through the much-needed reforms.
As per acting chairman Tarique Rahman's directive, Mr Dudu said, the BNP would continue its movement until the return of a democratically elected party to power.
Jatiyatabadi Gonotantra Parishad president Mokter Akhand chaired the event where BNP chairperson's adviser Habibur Rahman Habib was present.
In another development, the BNP sat with foreign diplomats the same day. The meeting was held in the Swiss envoy's residence.
BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said BNP leaders Amir Khashru Mahmud Chowdhury, Shama Obaed and barrister Kaiser Kamal, Swiss ambassador Nicolas Weeks, Norwegian ambassador Hakon Arald Gulbrandsen and Anders Karlsen, deputy head of mission of Danish embassy, were present.
