PM’s move to strengthen govt’s communication with local level admn

In a bid to expedite development activities at the grassroots level, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday initiated a new move to strengthen the government’s communication with the local tier of the administration through videoconferencing at least twice a month now and then every week, reports UNB.  Under the move, the prime minister from now on will regularly exchange views with the public representatives at local level and top officials of the district administration to know about their problems, progress of execution of the ongoing development programmes of their respective areas.

PM’s Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri said primarily the videoconferencing will be held at least twice a month after the weekly cabinet meeting and later it may be arranged every week.  The prime minister primarily held a videoconferencing from the Cabinet Division with Moulvibazar District Development Coordination Committee and exchanged views with the Deputy Commissioner, the Police Super, District Council Administrator, pourashava mayor and other government officials at the Deputy Commissioners office in Moulvibazar.

She also held a short videoconferencing with the Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner and the Police Commissioner, Sylhet Divisional Commissioner and the Police Commissioner, and Pabna Deputy Commissioner.

This is the first such effort from the country’s top executive to talk directly to government officials and public representatives at the field level to know about the progress of execution of various programmes taken for socioeconomic development of the country’s people.
