PM pays floral tribute to Hiron, death condoled

Prime Minister (PM) Sheik Hasina Wednesday paid homage to Awami League (AL) MP and former mayor of Barisal City Corporation (BCC) Shawkat Hossain Hiron, placing wreath on the coffin of the deceased at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament), reports UNB.
After his first namaj-e-janaza at the South Plaza, Hasina first placed a wreath on the coffin of Hiron. as the Prime Minister. She then placed another wreath on the coffin as the AL President, flanked by the senior party leaders, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Deputy Leader of Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury. Deputy Speaker Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah also paid homage to the late Awami League leader by placing wreaths on his coffin. Another wreath was placed on Hiron's coffin on behalf of the Opposition Leader.
Later, a special munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed soul.
Earlier, on behalf of President Abdul Hamid, his Military Secretary placed a wreath on the coffin of late AL MP Shawkat Hossain Hiron.
Cabinet members, members of parliament, leaders of different political parties and business bodies, and people from all walks of life also joined the namaz-e-janaza.
BSS adds: Cross-section of people including ministers, former ministers, politicians condoled the death of one of the AL lawmakers.
In separate condolence messages the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker and the Information Minister recalled the contributions of Hiron in the development of Barisal.
Health Minister Mohammad Nasim, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Law Minister Anisul Haq, Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Nur, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif, Chief Whip ASM Firoz, State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury condoled at the death of Hiron.
They issued separate messages and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
In a condolence message, former President and Jatiya Party (JP) chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad said, "The people of Barisal has lost a dedicated leader and I have lost a dearer one".
Bangladesh Awami Shechha Sebok League President Advocate Mollah M Abu Kauser and General Secretary Pangkaj Debnath and Barisal Bibhag Samity General Secretary Ziaul Kabir Dulu also issued messages and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
