Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city Monday, marking the 39th Jail Killing Day, reports UNB.

She first placed a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu as the PM and stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the architect of independent Bangladesh.

Flanked by central leaders of Bangladesh Awami League, Sheikh Hasina placed another round of wreaths as the president of the party.

She also offered fateha and munajat for the eternal salvation of the departed souls.

On November 3 in 1975, the four national leaders and heroes of country's Liberation War - Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, Captain Mansur Ali and AHM Quamruzzaman- were assassinated inside the Dhaka Central Jail as part of a conspiracy to make the country leaderless after the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
