PM, Speaker, FM mourn death of Sushma Swaraj

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen have expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, reports BSS.

In a condolence message from London, the prime minister said Sushma Swaraj was a good friend of Bangladesh.

"In her death we've lost a true friend," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim quoted the premier as saying.

Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh will always remember her contributions to taking the bilateral relationship to a new height.

The prime minister prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has condoled the demise of the former Indian external affairs minister.

In a condolence message, she said Sushma was a well-wisher of Bangladesh. Bangladesh lost a true friend through her death.

The Speaker prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen has expressed profound sorrow at the death of Sushma Swaraj.

In a condolence message from Saudi Arabia, he said Bangladesh will always remember her contributions to taking the bilateral relationship to a new height.

The foreign minister prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family and the people of India.
