Policeman among 20 injured in clash

NARSINGDI, Aug 10 (UNB): Twenty people, including a policeman, were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over the ownership of a government 'beel' at Nilakka village in Belabo Upazila Friday.
Local sources said the clash took place between the supporters of Gafur Mia and Tajul Islam when Gafur Mia along with his supporters went to take possession of a 'beel' (water body) at the village.
The feuding groups also attacked police personnel as the law enforcers went to bring the situation under control at about 3pm.
Two of the injured, Tarek (45) and Gafur Mia (55) were sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
The injured police constable, Humayun Kabir, was admitted to the Belabo Upazila Health Complex.
A case was filed with the local police station.
