Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury said Wednesday that political changeovers would take place in the country reflecting people's opinions in the normal democratic process, not in conspiracies of any evil force, reports BSS.
All will have to remain alert against any plot to usurp power that takes away lives of innocent child like Russel, she said speaking as chief guest at a discussion meeting on National Mourning Day in the city.
Sheikh Russel Jatiya Shishu Kishore Parishad organised the discussion at the National Press Club with Parishad City Unit President KM Shahid in the chair. Elderly Awami League (AL) leader Muzaffar Hossain Paltu addressed the meeting as the special guest.
The agriculture minister said the pledge of this year's mourning day should be resisting the evil forces from usurping power through conspiracies foiling the hard-earned democracy.
She said though Ziaur Rahman took part in the Liberation War, he worked for the Pakistanis.
She alleged that Begum Khaleda Zia has made alliance with the war criminal Jamaat-e-Islami to grab power illegally by using Islamic fundamentalists and militants.
Referring to Tareque Rahman, Matia Chowdhury asked him to face the cases filed during the caretaker regime, if he had any courage.
Recalling Sheikh Russel, she said Russel could be an extraordinary youth, if he was not brutally killed at the age of 10.
About the funeral of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975, she said the nation would remain grateful to those few people who took part in the funeral defying restrictions.
Muzaffar Hossain Paltu said Bangabandhu had a big heart. He did not believe that any Bangalee could kill him, he added.
