Opposition leader in parliament Begum Rawshan Ershad said Friday present political problems will be resolved and peace will be restored very soon, report agencies.
"We are trying to come out of the politics of confrontation . . . I am hopeful peace will return shortly," she said while visiting the burn victims at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Begum Ershad expressed her grave concern over the tragic condition of the burn victims at the DMCH due to petrol bomb and arson attacks during the indefinite transport blockade of the BNP-Jamaat-led 20-party alliance.
She called upon all political parties to come out of the negative politics in the greater interest of the country and its people.
"We do politics for the welfare of the people. It's really unfortunate that innocent people are facing the petrol bomb attacks and arson attacks," she observed.
Opposition Chief Whip Tajul Islam Chowdhury, Jatiya Party MPs -- ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, Fakhrul Islam, Begum Noor-e-Hasna Lily, Shawkat Chowdhury, Mohammad Selim Uddin, Nurul Islam Omar, Salauddin Ahmed Mukti, Altaf Ali and Dr Samanto Lal Sen accompanied the opposition leader.
Raushan said violence, acts of sabotage and killing people through firing cannot be a political programme of a political party.
Calling upon 20-party not to make people their political opponents, the opposition leader suggested it to shun violence and acts of sabotage while observing its programmes.
Opposition chief whip Tajul Islam and ex-Jatiya Party secretary general Ruhul Amin Hawlader accompanied Raushan during her DMCH visit.
She went to the DMCH burn unit around 11am as a good number of victims of fire and bomb blasts during the ongoing blockade programme are undergoing treatment there.
Raushon stayed there for nearly 35 minutes and talked to the victims and their family members, and consoled them.
