Political reform need of the time: Sujan

SYLHET, Apr 28: Speakers at a programme in the city on Saturday observed that this is the high time Bangladesh's politics should undergo a reform.
Besides, without an effective parliament, the speakers opined, there would be no way to establish rule of law, bring economic stability and gain social values.
On the other hand, without an effective opposition in parliament, democracy cannot exist in the country; and puppet opposition can never deliver anything for parliament, they viewed.
The total governance system of the country is in a fragile condition as almost all the organs have got destroyed, they noted, expecting that good sense will prevail among the citizens for a change.
Sylhet chapter of Susashoner Jonno Nagorik (Sujan) organised the event at a city hotel with its district unit secretary Faruque Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair while its secretary Shah Shaheda Akhtar conducted it.
Speaking as the chief guest, Sujon secretary Dr Badiul Alam Mazumder said the total political system in Bangladesh needs a major reform since everything has been destroyed in the last few years.
Almost all the sectors have been affected with corruption and criminalisation while the people have lost their confidence in the Election Commission and other constitutional bodies, he added.
