‘Post-deprived’ BNP men stage demo

Some dissidents of Dhaka North city unit BNP, who were left out of posts in the newly-formed committees of different thanas and wards of the organisation, have staged a demonstration, reports UNB.
They staged the demonstration in front of the party's Nayapaltan central office on Wednesday.
Nearly 100 BNP leaders of the unit took out a procession at Nayapaltan around 11:00 am against its president Abdul Quayum and general secretary Ahasan Ullah Hasan accusing them of forming the new committees with people loyal to them, depriving the competent ones.
Dhaka North city unit BNP vice-president Ferdous Ahmed, joint general secretary Shamim Parvez and organising secretary Sohel Rahman led the demonstration.
They demanded cancellation of the announced committees and formation of new ones with 'competent', 'dedicated' and 'active' party leaders and activists.
At one stage, police chased the protesters and dispersed them charging batons.
The law enforcers also detained three of the protesters.
