President M Zillur Rahman, in exercise of his power under Article 95 (1) of the Constitution, Thursday appointed Adv Mohammad Bazlur Rahman a regular judge of the High Court division of the Supreme Court, reports UNB.
An official announcement said: "The appointment comes into effect from the date he takes his oath."
SC sources said the oath-taking ceremony would take place at 10:30 am on May 10 (Sunday). Chief Justice MM Ruhul Amin will administer the oath at the judges' lounge.
The judge-designate, B. Rahman, one of the dropout judges appointed during the past Awami League rule (1996-2001), was not made regular after the BNP-led four-party alliance government came to power in October 2001 even though he successfully completed his two-year judicial function, a precondition for becoming a regular judge.
