President embarks on 10-day US, Bolivia tour today

President Abdul Hamid will leave Dhaka today (Thursday) for Bolivia and the USA on a 10-day official visit, reports BSS.
The President will leave the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) by a regular Emirate Airlines flight at 10.15am.
The President will attend the "Commemorative Summit of G77 and China" to be held at Santa Cruz de la Sierra in Bolivia between June 14 and 15.
He will reach Santa Cruz, the business state of Bolivia, on June 13 and on the next day join inaugural ceremony of the summit along with other heads of state and heads of government under the group G77.
On June 15, President Abdul Hamid will address the summit focusing on various issues related to common interests of the platform of G77.
The G77, established in 1964, is the largest inter-governmental organization of developing countries within the UN system with a membership of 133. Bangladesh is a member of the G77.
Bolivia holds the current chair of G77 and the organisation commemorates its 50th anniversary this year. Food security, poverty reduction and creating sustainable ways to protect the earth are on the agenda of the summit.
After attending the Summit, President Abdul Hamid will leave Bolivia and reach New York on June 16.
During his visit to USA, President Abdul Hamid will visit the United Nations Secretariat in New York and hold a meeting with UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon on June 19.
Besides, President Hamid will attend a reception to be organised by Bangladesh community, residing in the USA, on June 17.
The Kishoreganj Samity in New York will also accord a reception to President Abdul Hamid on June 18.
