President for direct Kunming-Ctg rail, road links

President Abdul Hamid underscored on Sunday the need for establishing direct road and rail links between China's Kunming and Chittagong via Myanmar to enhance trade and commerce as well as people-to-people contact between the two countries, reports BSS.
The emphasis came when visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban, President's press secretary Ihsanul Karim said.
The President appreciated the proactive role of China in advancing the Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar (BCIM) initiative for the BCIM Economic Corridor.
