President Iajuddin Ahmed Wednesday urged the judges to work more sincerely for rapid disposal of cases in the High Court (HC) Division of the Supreme Court, reports BSS.
The President made the suggestion when six newly appointed judges of the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.
The judges apprised the President that over 0.3 million cases are pending with the High Court Division.
Presently, there are 67 judges in the High Court Division. "It is a difficult task to dispose of the pending cases. It needs more judges for quick disposal of those cases," the President was told.
The six Judges-Justice Md Delwar Hossain, Justice Md Azizul Haque, Justice Md Abdus Samad, Justice AKM Abdul Hakim, Justice Sayeda Afsar Jahan and Justice Borhan Uddin-took oath on November 16.
