President stresses enhancing Bangla-China visit programmes

President Iajuddin Ahmed stressed the need for enhancing the visit, training and technical cooperation programmes concerning the armed forces of Bangladesh and China to the mutual benefit, reports UNB.
He made the suggestion when a 12-member visiting delegation led by General Chen Bingde, member of the Central Military Commission of China, called on him at Bangabhaban Thursday.
The Bangladesh leader expressed the hope this kind of interaction would help increase professional skill of the forces.Welcoming the delegation, the President exchanged pleasantries with them and expressed satisfaction at their visit to Bangladesh. "As a friendly country, Bangladesh attaches great importance to its bilateral relations with China," he told them. He said the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China are excellent and it would be further strengthened and deepened in the days to come. The President wished the delegation a pleasant stay in Bangladesh.
The President apprised the delegation of the prevailing flood situation and government activities, including the distribution of relief materials, shelter and rehabilitation programmes for the flood-affected people of Bangladesh. He also informed the delegation about a huge trade gap prevailing between the two countries, which is against Bangladesh. He said the gap should be narrowed down for the interest of Bangladesh. He also emphasised exchanging educational programmes to the mutual benefit of the two countries.
The delegation apprised the President about the vision of their visit to Bangladesh as well as the activities of the Central Military Commission of China. The delegation thanked the President for giving them time and patient hearing. They expressed sincere gratitude for providing warm hospitality by the government of Bangladesh. The delegation apprised the President that their government would provide all kinds of cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two friendly countries. The Chinese Military Commission team hoped the existing relations between the two countries would be further strengthened and consolidated in the days to come.
