President urges Egypt to import Bangladeshi goods

Egypt can import high-class pharmaceuticals, melamine, garments and jute goods from Bangladesh at competitive prices.
President Iajuddin told this to the newly appointed Egyptian Ambassador in Bangladesh Fayez Mustafa Noseir who presented his credentials to the President at Bangabhaban in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
The President also told the envoy that the next parliamentary elections in Bangladesh would be held within the timeframe set by the Election Commission (EC).
He stressed the importance of exchange of visits by trade delegations between Bangladesh and Egypt for exploring all avenues of economic cooperation in addition to exchange of educational programmes.
Iajuddin also called for the envoy's personal initiative in finalising the proposed agreement on establishing Bangladesh-Egypt Joint Commission in connection with trade and investment, science and technological cooperation, economic and technical cooperation and cooperation in agriculture.
The President assured the ambassador of all support and cooperation in discharging his duties in Bangladesh and wished him good health and happiness.
He also conveyed through the envoy his greetings and best wishes to the President of Egypt and invited him to visit Bangladesh at his convenient time.
The ambassador termed relations between the two countries as 'excellent' and apprised the President that Egypt was eager to work with Bangladesh for enhancing bilateral trade and commerce.
Earlier, on his arrival at Bangabhaban, the envoy was given a guard of honour by the President's guard regiment. The ambassador took salute and inspected the parade.
Military Secretary to the President M Aminul Karim, Secretary M Sirajul Islam, Foreign Secretary M Touhid Hossain, Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader and concerned officials from both the countries were present on the occasion.
