Primary school daftaris demand job nationalisation

Support staffs known as duftry of government primary schools held a sit-in programme to press home their three-point demand including their job nationalisation.

They took position on the street in front of the National Press Club on Saturday. They are scheduled to hold a massive rally today (Sunday).

Their other demands include elimination of salary discrimination, increase in the salary and allowances, as well as fixing their working hours as per labour law instead of the 24-hour duty at present.

Several thousands of duftry gathered in front of the National Press Club to register their demand.

They said they would not leave the streets unless their demand was met.

Talking to the FE, one of the coordinators of the movement Masudur Rahman said no representatives from the government contacted them till 5:00pm.

"The administration has neither assured us of meeting the demand nor they have deterred us," he said.

"We shall continue our programme staying here tonight. We shall hold a massive rally here tomorrow," he said.

There are around 37,000 duftrys across the country, he said.
