Prime Minister goes to Gaibandha today

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina goes to Gaibandha today (Saturday) on a daylong visit to open and lay foundation stones of 15 development projects as well as to meet the family members of those killed and wounded in recent violence of BNP and Jamaat-Shibir terrorists, reports UNB.

Prime Minister's Office sources said Sheikh Hasina would arrive in the district town by an Air Force helicopter in the noon and then she would exchange views with the family members of those killed and wounded in the recent violence of BNP and Jamaat-Shibir terrorists at Circuit House at 12.45 pm.

In the afternoon, the PM will inaugurate Gobindaganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Station, Gaibandha Textile Vocational Institute, six food godowns with 1000 metric ton capacity, upgradtion of 31-bed hospitals to the 50-bed in Shaghata, Palashbari and Sundarganj upazilas and an EPI store in the district through unveiling plaques from Shah Abdul Hamid Stadium, the sources said.

Besides, she will lay the foundation stones of the Palashbari Thana Building, Fulchhari Thana Building, District Muktijoddha Sangsad Complex, Gobindaganj Upazila Livestock Development Centre, Gaibandha Technical Training Centre, gallery extension work of Gaibandha Shah Abdul Hamid Stadium, 1490-metre PC girder bridge on the Teesta River on Sundarganj-Chilmari Road and 360- metre PC girder bridge on the Katakhali river on Bonarpara UP Office- Ramnagar Bazaar Road under Saghata Upazila.

Later, Sheikh Hasina will address a public meeting to be arranged by Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, on the stadium ground.

Meanwhile, people from all walks of life including leaders and workers of AL are in joyous and festive mood centring the today's visit of the PM.

The district town has already wore a festive look as many gates and arches have been set up and a large number of colourful festoons and banners hung at different points of the town to welcome Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
