Pro-AL panel sweeps CU syndicate election

CHITTAGONG, Sept 15 (BSS): Awami League(AL)-backed yellow panel teachers swept the Chittagong University (CU) syndicate, finance and academic council elections bagging 13 out of 18 posts of those bodies, reports BSS.
The elections of three policy- making bodies of the university were held in CU Business Administration faculty auditorium from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm Sunday.  A total of 697 out of 716 teachers of the university cast their votes while CU acting registrar Engineer Mohammad Alamgir declared the election results Sunday night.
The elected syndicate members from yellow panel are Masum Ahmed of Philosophy Department for Assistant Professor category, Razib Acharya of Zoology Department for Lecturer category while the elected White panel candidates are Prof Dr Mozaffar Ahmed Chowdhury of Philosophy Department for Professor category and Tanvir Mohammad Haidar Arif of Finance and Banking Department for Associate Professor category.
In the election of Deans Committee, Prof Dr Mohammad Abul Hossain was elected for Social Science Faculty, Prof Dr Mohammad Sekandar Chowdhury for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Prof Dr Jahangir Alam for Business faculty and Dr Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman was elected for Biological Science faculty from the Yellow panel.
