SHAHJALAL UNIVERSITY, Dec 21 (UNB): The ruling Awami League (AL)-backed panel swept the senate and academic council elections of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on Thursday.
Ruling party-backed teachers Dr Jahir Bin Alam and Dr Mostabur Rahman won the election in category-1 and category-2 in senate.
Pro-Awami League teachers -- M Anwar Hossain of Sociology Department, Dr Asif Iqbal of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Department, M Saiful Islam of Computer Science and Engineering Department and Suprata Das of Architecture Department -- won the all four posts of the academic council.
The election was held at the meeting room of the academic council starting from 10:00 am and continued until 4:00 pm.
SUST registrar M Ishfaqul Hossain, also the returning officer of the election, declared the results at 8:30 pm.
