Prof Dr Burdett A Bird Loomis, a political science teacher of Kansas University, Monday said proper distribution of power among state organs can make democracy effective, reports UNB.
"The proper distribution of power among state organs has made the US democracy effective, which ensures the country to be the mightiest nation in the world," Prof Burdett told a seminar.
Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organised the seminar titled 'The US President and the Senate: Cooperation and Conflict' at its auditorium.
Chaired by the Chairman of the Board of Governors of BIISS, Maj Gen Muhammad Firdaus Mian, the function was addressed, among others, by Dr Kamal Hossain and acting director of the American Centre, Dhaka Brent Beemer.
Stressing the importance of harmonisation of works of the legislative and the executive, Prof Bird Loomis said the work efficiency of the Senate and the House of Representatives has made democracy in the USA effective.
