Prosecution ends arguments against ‘razakar’ Forkan

The prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 concluded on Monday placing arguments against Forkan Mallik, alleged razakar commander from Mirzaganj of Patuakhali, reports BSS.

After that, Justice Obaidul Hassan, Chairman of the three-member panel of ICT-2, adjourned the hearing till today (Tuesday). The defence is scheduled to place its arguments on that day.

Prosecutor Mukhlesur Rahman Badal concluded the arguments in three days, starting from May 28.

A total of 14 prosecution witnesses, including the investigation officer, testified against Forkan. The second tribunal on December 18, 2014, indicted Forkan and framed five specific charges of crimes against humanity including murder, rape, torture and forced conversion.

Meanwhile, the defence in the trial of Obaidul Huq Taher and Ataur Rahman Noni, two alleged razakar leaders from Netrakona, concluded on Monday cross-examining seventh prosecution witness (PW) Md Nabi Newaz Talukder, reports BSS.

Advocate Abdus Subhan Tarafder, counsel for the Natrakona Razakar duo, quizzed the seventy-year-old witness at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1.

The first tribunal on August 12 issued arrest warrant against the duo and the police arrested them on that very day.

The ICT-1 on March 2, 2015, indicted the duo and framed six charges of crimes against humanity.
