Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said on Sunday public wrath has exposed Khaleda Zia to political fall as BNP is drawing hatred from the mass people for destructive activities, reports BSS.
"Such threat of mass movement to release Begum Zia is really a mockery . . . I want to urge BNP to adopt political programmes in the interest of the common people," he said at a press conference at his secretariat office in the city.
BNP had earlier made people hostage and killed them through arson attacks, Dr Hasan said, adding they (BNP) also made ill attempts to foil the polls as well as the voting rights of the common people.
"So, Khelda has already suffered political fall due to public wrath," the minister said.
Urging BNP leaders to retrieve the people's trust and faith, Dr Hasan said the world community knows that a peaceful political environment is prevailing in Bangladesh.
He said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Sri Lanka, termed Bangladesh as an example of 'economic growth' for the country's political stability.
But the leaders of BNP did not see the peaceful environment, he said, adding, "No one is worried over their (BNP) threat for movement.
He said the people of the country are living peacefully and the economic condition has improved.
Bangladesh is now a role model before the world, he added.
Replaying to a question on the much-talked about Priya Saha's comments during an interaction with US president Donald Trump, Dr Hasan said her comments go against the interest of Bangladesh.
