Food Minister and Joint General Secretary of Dhaka City Awami League Advocate Quamrul Islam said on Tuesday the evil forces of 1971 and 1975 are still active in the country and responsible for the current situation, reports BSS.
"BNP founder Ziaur Rahman initiated state terrorism and tried to erase the spirit of the Liberation War with assassination of Bangabandhu," he said while addressing a discussion as the chief guest marking the 95th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organised the discussion at Shilpakala Academy in the city with its vice-president actor ATM Shamsuzzaman in the chair. Among others, noted actors Dr Enamul Haque and Khairul Alam Sabuj, artiste of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Monoranjan Ghoshal and film actress Aruna Biswas spoke on the occasion.
"Khaleda Zia is now taking leadership of the anti-liberation forces following the footstep of her husband Ziaur Rahman, while her son Tarique Rahman wanted to turn Bangladesh as a failed state like Pakistan," Quamrul also said.
Terming Tarique Rahman as the main enemy of Khaleda Zia, the minister added, "Khaleda Zia is now sitting idle like a doll and her son Tarique Raham is giving directive to turn Bangladesh into a militant state."
