RAB arrest five 'JMB men' in C'nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Apr 29 (UNB): Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested five suspected members of banned Islamic outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Bajitpur area of Shibganj upazila early Sunday.
The arrestees were identified as Ziaul Haque Zia alias Abir alias Ranjit, 38, Beladul Islam Belal, 50, residents of Dhobra area, Toufiqul Islam Toufiq, 32, resident of Goabari Chandpur area, Kamal Hossain, 35, resident of Chakla area and Shariful Islam, 34, resident Dhobra area.
Being tipped-off, a team of RAB conducted a drive and cordoned off a mango orchard around 2am, said Lt Col Mahbubul Haque, commanding officer of RAB-5.
Later, the elite force arrested five men along with two pistols, two magazines, seven rounds of bullet, 800 gram gunpowder, some jihadi books and bomb-making materials, said the RAB official.
In primary investigation, they confessed to their involvement with JMB, added the official.
