"Women are facing repression as a result of discriminations against them. So, all sorts of discrimination against women should be stopped," he told a discussion on "Family violence: it is not individual, rather it is political" at the Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU).
The Department of Women and Gender Studies of DU and the Mohila Parishad organised the discussion marking the International Women Repression Prevention Fortnight.
Chairman of Department of Television and Film Studies Prof Dr AGM Shafiqul Alam Bhuiyan, teachers and members of civil society, among others, addressed the discussion with chairman of the Department of Women and Gender Studies of DU Tania Haque in the chair.
President of Mohila Parishad Ayesha Khanom presented the keynote paper at the discussion.
Mr Inu said equal rights of men and women have to be established in the society to root out all forms of discriminations. "Repression on women will not be stopped until equal rights of women on property are ensured," he said.
