Rangamati Mutiny Trial adjourned until Jan 10 next yr

RANGAMATI, May 04: The special court-4 today (Tuesday) adjourned the trial of 75 accused BDR jawans of 9 Rifles Battalion, fixing the date on January 10, 2011 for the next hearing, after receiving depositions from 25 witnesses.
The proceedings resumed Monday after a period of 73 days which was again adjourned today for eight months.
The special court so far has received depositions from 25 witnesses out of 100.
Two witnesses - Havilder Md Mokhlesur Rahman and Md Shahadat Ali -gave depositions before the special court today.
BDR DG Maj Gen Md Moinul Islam, Lt Col Md Abdur Rouf and Maj Golam Mostafa Al Mamun were the members of the special court.
The mutiny in Rangamati took place at three of the sector's five battalions. The three battalions are 12 Rifles Battalion at Rajanagar in Longudu, 9 Rifles Battalion at Marishya in Baghaichhari and 18 Rifles Battalion at Chhotohorina in Barkal upazila.
