Awami League leader and chairman of the party relief committee Abdur Razzak called Monday for coordination of relief works of all as it is not possible for the government alone to tackle the worst situation in the coastal districts battered by cyclone Sidr.
"The government should coordinate the activities of all in the cyclone-ravaged districts to overcome such a worst situation," he told the inaugural ceremony of a saline programme of Awami Swechc-hhasebok League at the party's Bangabandhu Avenue central office, reports UNB.
The AL leader urged the authorities to release detained party president Sheikh Hasina so that she can take part in relief operations.
He also renewed the demand for declaring the cyclone-battered districts as calamity zones and lifting of the State of Emergency from the affected districts.
"If the government declares the affected areas as calamity zones then the whole world would be able to realise the situation and will extend additional supports," Razzak said calling upon the party leaders and activists to expedite their relief operations in the cyclone-hit areas.
To ensure transparency, he also asked the leaders of Swechchhasebok League to note down the names and addresses of those who are contributing to the party's relief fund.
