Relations between Bangladesh, India to continue improving, says BSF DG

RANGPUR, Mar 19 (BSS): Raman Shrivastava, Director General (DG) of Indian Border Security Force (BSF), today hoped that relations between the two neighbouring countries, Bangladesh and India, would continue improving day by day in future.
The prevailing friendly relations and cooperation between Indian BSF and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) will further improve the overall border managements for maintaining sustainable peace and tranquility along the common borders, he said.
The BSF chief expressed the views while exchanging good wishes and views with the senior BDR officials at Panbari outpost of BDR under Patgram Upazila of Lalmonirhat district during his visit to the Tinbigha Corridor and adjoining Indian frontiers.
On his arrival at the Tinbigha Corridor, a smart contingent of BDR jawans gave the BSF chief a guard of honour and he took the salute and inspected the guard.
Rangpur Sector Commander of BDR Col Mohammad Khairuzzaman and other senior officials welcomed the BSF DG and senior officials with bouquet.
Later, Mr Shrivastava came to nearby Panbari outpost and exchanged views with the senior BDR officials for 30 minutes before returning to India at 2:45 pm Thursday.
The BSF DG expressed his satisfaction over successful completion of setting up of the underground electric cables through the Tinbigha Corridor early this week for supplying electricity to the Dahogram-Angarpota people.
He also wrote down comments in the visitor's book at Panbari BDR outpost and expressed hopes that the friendly relations between the two neighbouring nations, people and borderguards will further improve in the days ahead.
The top BSF boss was accompanied by Inspector General of North Bengal Frontier of BSF Nanda Kishore, Deputy Inspector General of Jalpaiguri BSF Sector SK Varma and senior BSF Staff Officers.
Commanding Officer (CO) of Rangpur 34 Rifle battalion Lt Col Omar Sadi, CO of Lalmonirhat 31 Rifle battalion Lt Col Aslam and his Second-in- Command Maj Arifur Rahman accompanied Rangpur Sector Commander of BDR.
The BSF DG thanked the BDR officials and expressed his gratitude for according him warm receptions, excellent hospitality and cooperation during his visit to the Tinbigha Corridor today, official sources said.
