Report on three separate CHT zila parisad bills placed in JS

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry placed in Parliament Monday its report on the three separate bills 2014 (amendment) for three districts of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Zila parisad with a unanimous recommendation for passage in an amended form, reports BSS.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee RAM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury placed Rangamati Hill Tracts Zila Parisad (Amendment) Bill 2014, Bandarban Hill Tracts Zila Parisad (Amendment) Bill 2014 and Khagrachari Hill Tracts Zila Parisad (Amendment) Bill 2014 in the House after their scrutiny.

Earlier, State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Bir Bahadur U Shoi Singh on July 1, 2014 introduced the bills in the Jatiya Sangsad, which were later sent to the concerned parliamentary standing committee for scrutiny in three weeks.

According to the report of these three bills, each zila parisad of the CHT region would be formed with a chairman and 14 members.

Of the 306 upazilas, the construction works on the fire service stations are on acquiring lands in 152 upazilas, while a process is underway to acquire lands for the stations in the remaining 154 upazilas, he added.
